News » Medical Marijuana Dispensary Moratorium Approved In Spokane, Washington
February 27, 2013 by ErikG
The Spokane City Council has successfully passed a six-month moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries in their municipality.
Spokane City Councilman Jon Snyder proclaimed, “We need a timeout”, in regards to trying to decipher how the new recreational marijuana laws will affect the current medical marijuana businesses.
Councilman Snyder believes they need the six months to take the new rules and regulations for recreational marijuana into consideration before allowing anymore dispensaries to open up shop.
With this particular temporary suspension the number of operating medical marijuana dispensaries in Spokane remains at a dozen.
There is still the question of whether or not the new recreational regulations will make it more favorable to shop at a recreational retail store as opposed to the current dispensary base.
For loyal dispensary customers the concerns of price, selection, whether the end product was rigorously tested and consistency will factor in when deciding where to obtain their medical marijuana supply.
