We are a group of Brown University graduates committed to realizing progressive and common sense change for Rhode Island. In short, we have submitted a formal application for licensure to operate a medical marijuana dispensary in Rhode Island, because we feel we are best positioned to bring about a positive solution for the community.
Our reasoning is that many of the applications submitted (21 or so for a maximum of 3 licenses) are put forth by individuals with motivations at odds with those of the community. For us, the goal is to operate a self sufficient, non-profit dispensary that is proactive in developing a strong partnership with State Regulators and the local community.
By leveraging social media platforms, we feel we can most effectively connect with the local community in the best interest of transparency, regulator relationships, and customer service. Since all applications were rejected the last time the State accepted them, it is important to generate community support for success in this current round.
We are confident that our organization can serve as a vehicle for a common sense solution for Rhode Island, and we hope you can bring your support and join us for the ride.
The final application decision will be made by the State in March, 2011. We will keep you informed of our application’s status and provide factual evidence as to why approval of our license is in the community’s best interest.
